29 CFR 1926.501(b)(13): Each employee engaged in residential construction activities 6 feet (1.8 m) or more above lower levels was not protected by guardrail systems, safety net system, a personal fall arrest system, or an alternative fall protection measure as provided by another provision in paragraph (b) of this section: a. Employees performing roofing work are not protected from fall hazards by the use of a fall protection system. The employer fails to assure effective protections against falls as required by the standard, as demonstrated on October 4, 2016, when 4 employees installing roofing paper on the 6:12 pitch roof of a house at 2621 Sunrise Ridge Lane, Jacksonville, Florida, were exposed to an 18 feet fall hazard to the ground in that they were not attached to a personal fall protection system. Preferred Roofing was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 1926.501(b)(13), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 483979, citation number 1, item number 3 and was affirmed as a final order on August 7, 2012, with respect to a workplace located at 13853 Soft Wind Trail, Jacksonville, FL 32224. |
