Citation text line OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that robotic welding systems were not guarded to protect employees from the hazards of thermal, radiation and struck-by hazards. For the establishment at 5210 Causeway Blvd., Tampa, FL 33619, as observed on or about 03/30/2016 and 04/22/2016, employees operating and standing/walking near an Almega AX-V6L robotic welder were exposed to the following hazardous conditions: a) Access to the robot's operations area was not restricted, a perimeter fence was not in place, welding curtains did not contain the operations area, and employees were observed to walk by the robotic welder's operations area while it was in operation. Employees in the area were exposed to arc flash. b) Employees working in the robot's operations area to setup the robot and walking through the operation's area during operation were exposed to potential eye injuries for the welder's arc flash. Suitable eye protection to protect against the robotic welder's arc was not used. c) An emergency stop button was located inside the robot's operations area causing employees to enter the operations area to startup the robot. This required the attending employee to be inside the operations area with the robot welding for a brief time.
