OSH ACT of 1970 Section (5)(a)(1): Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to a 14 foot fall hazard while working on a job made wooden elevated work platform. a. On or about March 13, 2015, two employees were on a job made elevated wooden platform that did not comply with ANSI B56.1, specifically: 1. A slip resistant floor surface. 2. A restraining means such as a guard rail or a means for securing personnel such as a body belt or lanyard whenever the platform can be elevated to a height greater than 47 inches. 3. A guard rail shall have a height above the platform of not less than 36 inches or more than 42 inches around its upper periphery and include a midrail. |
