Citation text line | OSH ACT of 1970 Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment which were free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees, in that employees were not protected from the hazard of high ambient heat: a) On or about and at times prior to April 5, 2022, employees were exposed to the hazard of high ambient heat from the sun during the performance of their job duties, including harvesting strawberries for 8-hours and pulling plastic from the plant beds for 1-hour. The calculated Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) ranged from 25�C to 30.5 �C (77�F to 86.9�F) while working outdoors performing moderate manual labor and wearing long sleeves and pants. Such exposures are likely to lead to the development of serious heat-related illnesses such as, but not limited to, heat cramps, heat stress, heat exhaustion, and heat stroke. An employee exhibited symptoms of heat exhaustion such as fatigue, weakness, and disorientation. |
