On or about December 02, 2014, in the fabrication shop, fabricators used a hand held Makita grinder with a metal cutting disk 4.5-inch diameter and a Milwaukie grinder with a metal cutting disk 12-inch diameter to cut metal for metal gates and railings. The grinders did not have a safety guard exposing employees to laceration hazards. |

Edwards Ornamental Iron, Inc. was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 922585, citation number 1, item number 3b and was affirmed as a final order on November 13, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 1252 West Beaver Street, Jacksonville, FL 32204. 29 CFR 1910.1200(h)(1): Employees were not provided effective information and training on hazardous chemicals in their work area at the time of their initial assignment and whenever a new hazard that the employees had not been previously trained about was introduced into their work area: a. On or about December 02, 2014, in the fabrication shop, employees using chemicals such as, but not limited to, carbon dioxide, acetylene, argon, and aluminum welding wire and metallizing wire, had not been provided with training on the health and physical hazards associated with these chemicals. |
