29 CFR 1926.95(a): Personal protective equipment, including personal protective equipment for eyes, face, head, and extremities, protective clothing, respiratory devices, and protective shields and barriers, was not provided, used, or maintained in a sanitary and reliable condition; it was necessary by reason of hazards of processes or environment, chemical hazards, radiological hazards, or mechanical irritants encountered in a manner capable of causing injury or impairment in the function of any part of the body through absorption, inhalation, or physical contact; On or about February 6th, 2015 at the above addressed job site, employees performing concrete plastering operation were not provided with appropriate gloves, exposing them to come in contact with wet Portland cement (Titan America Stucco Cement) that can cause skin sensitization, dermatitis, caustic burns, burns may result in blisters, dead or hardened skin, or black or green skin. In severe cases, these burns may extend to the bone and cause disfiguring scars or disability. |
