Section 5(a)(1) of the Occupational Safety and Health Act of 1970: The employer did not furnish employment and a place of employment that was free from recognized hazards that were causing or likely to cause death or serious physical harm to employees in that employees were exposed to struck by hazards due to missing safety latches on hooks used overhead gantry cranes: a) For the Globe Trailers facility at 3101 59th Ave. Drive East, Bradenton, FL 34203, as observed on or about 10/16/2012, hooks and chains were used with overhead gantry cranes to lift newly fabricated trailers. Safety latches were broken and/or missing on hooks used to make to lifts. The trailers weighed over a thousand pounds. |

29 CFR 1910.107(l)(4)(i): All areas were not kept free of the accumulation of powder coating dust: a) For the Globe Trailers facility at 3101 59th Ave. Drive East, Bradenton, FL 34203, as observed on or about 10/16/2012, combustible powder coating dust had accumulated in the powder coating equipment and storage room, next to the powder coating booth, at levels of 1/32 inch or greater. The dust had settled on the entire floor surface area and on equipment and storage racks. The powder coating dust was analyzed to be a class II dust with an explosion severity of 0.6900, and presented a fire hazard in the storage room. |
