Respirators were used by employees when facial hair interfered with the face-to-facepiece seal, when the facepiece had visible dust inside and when the elastomeric parts of the facepiece showed signs of deterioration. |

29 CFR 1910.1053(f)(2)(i)(C): The exposure control plan did not contain a description of the housekeeping measures used to limit employee exposure to respirable crystalline silica: a) On or about August 28, 2018, at the fabrication shop where crystalline silica containing materials such as, but not limited to granite and quartz were being cut, grinded and polished. Dust accumulation around shop walls, other building components, electronics, electrical panels, storage cabinets, floors, working station tables, stored materials and equipment was observed. A silica concentration of 40% was measured from accumulated dust on an electrical panel and working table in the fabrication shop as well as an office window sill base. The company exposure control plan did not include housekeeping practices, process, schedule and protective measures. |
