Employees installing roofing shingles at elevations of 6 feet or more above the ground are not being protected from fall hazards by a fall protection system. The employer fails to assure effective protection against falls as required by the standard, as demonstrated on July 26, 2016, when employees installing roofing shingles on a 6:12 pitch roof at 2414 Oxmar Drive, Deland, FL 32724, were exposed to an 9.4 feet fall hazard above the ground in that they did not have a fall protection system installed. The Roof Depot, Inc., was previously cited for a violation of this occupational safety and health standard or its equivalent standard 29 CFR 1926.501(b)(10), which was contained in OSHA inspection number 915808, citation number 01, item number 001 and was affirmed as a final order on August 14, 2013, with respect to a workplace located at 601 South Copeland Street, Tallahassee, FL 32307.
