29 CFR 1910.212(a)(1): One or more methods of machine guarding was not provided to protect the operator and other employees in the machine area from hazards such as those created by point of operation, ingoing nip points, rotating parts, flying chips and sparks: a. Truss Manufacturing Plant on the North side near the ALS-276 CNC: On or about 5/17/2021, the employer exposed employees amputation hazards, in that the blade protective guard on the Master Mechanic 10" Circular Saw was broken while employees cut wood. b. Truss Manufacturing Plant on the East side: On or about 5/17/2021, the employer exposed employees to caught-in and struck-by hazards created by rotating and moving parts, in that 2 bearing protective guards were missing and the right side limit switch (trigger) safety device was broken on the 2nd Alpine EasyRider Gantry while roof trusses were being assembled at the truss table. |
