Employees working from elevation of 8 to 18 feet while installing roof sheathing are not being protected from the hazard of falling from these elevations to the concrete slabs. The employer has not installed fall protection systems, nor required the use of personal fall protection systems. This violation was most recently observed on or about May 23, 2014, at a job site located at 153 Twin Maple Rd, Saint Augustine Florida. On the roof sheathing and top cords of trusses, employees installing roof sheathing were exposed to an 8 to 18 feet fall hazard in that they were not protected by a fall protection system. To abate this violation, the employer must ensure that all employees working at elevations of 6 feet or greater are protected from falls by a fall protection system. Pursuant to 29 CFR 1903.19, the employer must submit documents describing the steps it is taking to ensure compliance, including and explanation of how these steps protect its employees from fall hazards.
