Citation text line 29 CFR 1910.132(a):Protective equipment was not used when necessary whenever hazards capable of causing injury and impairment were encountered: a) For the clean-in-place process in the syrup room, on or about 01/20/2023, the employer exposed maintenance employees to thermal burn hazards, in that, employees troubleshooting CIP control valves were not required to wear personal protective equipment that would protect them from the release of hot water through drain valves located in the area where they were working or from high temperature piping. Water temperature was around 185 degrees Fahrenheit (70.8 degrees Celsius).
