Complaint What Happened On XX/XX/scrub>XXXX XXXX XXXX I entered into a Mercari transaction in the amount of XXXX, Mercari Invoice ID - XXXX - for a XXXX for a new computer I was building. The part was listed as new, but was used ( and was previously registered to a different person unbeknownst to the Mercari seller - XXXX XXXX who sold the unit ). Unfortunately, the item being registered in someone else 's name, but sold as new, completely voided any kind of warranty on the item, which is a huge problem. In short, the item was not as described, and its just an unfortunate situation. I made contact within 72 hours to the seller letting them know of the issue ; however, Mercari is not wanting to return the funds, and is giving me significant grief surrounding the matter. They keep pointing me back to a 72 hour window, which I made contact in the 72 hour window. The Mercari Seller ( XXXX XXXX ) and I have agreed to mutually refund the item ; however, Mercari is not working with us to support the refund because they claim the contact wasn't made within 72 hours, which isn't true, and I can support that with screenshots and documentation between the seller and myself. The problem arises due to the seller only receiving about {$620.00} out of the total {$790.00}, so Mercari has taken taxes, shipping, processing fees, etc. and is holding those funds hostage when both myself as the buyer and XXXX as the seller have agreed to go forward with a refund. I have other resources engaged, but Mercari is trying to suppress chargebacks and refunds for legitimate situations, and enough is enough. I will help provide any resources I can, but what Mercari is doing, in my opinion, is completely ethically bankrupt, and they need to be held accountable. Additionally, Mercari 's policies do not align with consumer protections for legitimate situations, includiing chargebacks. For example, their policy is in direct conflict with XXXXXXXX XXXX policies, or the chargeback policy of pretty much any bank or financial institution. Since their support is so unwilling to help in dire situations, I had no other choice but to raise a complaint outside in hopes to correct the matter. Mercari also has a history of wanting to offer credits that expire in 90 days in lieu of actually refunding the money itself, and that also is very alarming, and something I would also like to bring to light with the CFPB.

Complaint What Happened Around XX/XX/XXXX, I sold 3 XXXX toys on the selling app Mercari, after shipping out the orders and receiving 5 star reviews from each buyer I went to withdraw my funds from the apps wallet ( {$310.00} ). During the attempt to withdraw, Mercari limited my account for an unspecified reason. I contacted Mercari support and they said I needed to verify my identity through the app. I completed the verification process and got confirmation but the hold still remained. I spoke to support again and they claim I never uploaded my information. I reuploaded it again for the same result. This went on and on and my funds are still on hold to this day and support still refuses to help any further. This has gone on for over 2 weeks. At this point I just would like to have my money and move on to a different platform. Thank you for any assistance you can provide

Complaint What Happened I am a seller on the Mercari phone app and want to reach out with regards to an issue. I received an email with no prior warning or message from Mercari that my account has been closed and funds frozen as I was selling " non-authentic items ''. Firstly, I will agree to the fact that I was unaware that using stock photos was unacceptable. But Mercari should have reached out to me. I have been a well respected seller since 2015 with tons of ( 75+ ) 5 star reviews. I am quite disappointed that my account would just be closed. I have receipts and valid serial numbers for all items I sold. There are a lot of scammers and competitors who try to harm others, and therefore I did not list any of the serial numbers. I received 5 pieces of the same item so thought I could use the picture ( my own picture ) I took multiple times. If this was an issue, Mercari could have reached out and I could have fixed the issue. Rather than taking the decision of just closing my account. I am requesting for the company to re-evaluate my case, release my frozen funds and get back to me and I will be more than happy to provide all valid receipts and valid serial numbers. This is theft as I have read hundreds of other sellers who experience the same issue. Mercari is stealing innocent seller 's money and profiting off us on the application.
