Consumer complaint On XX/XX/XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX entertained a presentation from a XXXX Agent, ( XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX ) the presentation led to my acceptance of the offers made which included 4 cameras, 1 indoor control panel, 1 garage door opener and front and patio door alarms. I was clearly presented with the cost of the service from XXXX to be {$110.00} per month for 3 years and thereafter {$45.00} per month until balance is paid off. The total purchase presented was about {$3600.00}. The equipment was installed the same day of presentation. The agent XXXX XXXX stated she would be back the next morning to make sure everything was fine. She came over about XXXX Sunday XX/XX/XXXX. I told her everything is fine ; however, I forgot to ask what the method of payment is and when will it begin, she stated XXXX will send you the information within the week or so. I said OK.
On XX/XX/XXXX, I received a letter from a company by the name of Fortiva, informing me of a transaction involving approved credit of {$4600.00} with an interest rate of 9 % over the term of 5 years. I also received a credit card to be registered by me to acknowledge payment to Fortiva. I called and asked about it and I was informed that it is Fortivas way of letting me know I have and account with them and to remind me of payments to be made.
The letter sent by Fortiva included a billing statement showing the total transaction. I called them and let them know that I was never told or informed about financing the equipment with XXXX, I was told that I would get directly billed by XXXX and that I know nothing of who Fortiva is and that they were used for a credit application on my behalf. So, I informed the agent I will cancel my account.
XXXX agent never informed or disclosed to me anything about financing the equipment with Fortiva as a method of payment. I was told that I would be paying monthly to XXXX and that I could cancel within 60 days without reason, just a change of mind. On XX/XX/XXXXXXXX I called XXXX and spoke to rep. XXXX and requested that my account be cancelled based on my learning that XXXX obtained credit on my behalf without any information or disclosure. I explained that I find this practice of sticking someone with a credit account, especially when I was not applying for credit or even informed that this is the method used by XXXX to be fraudulent. I explained that I have total distrust of XXXX at this point and do not want any business with XXXX let alone Fortiva. It appears to me that both companies use this method of practice to extend credit, without full information or disclosure.
The Billing statement sent by Fortiva requires a payment for XX/XX/XXXX. I have expressed to them that I can not honor the bill because I never applied to Fortiva for credit. Fortiva is now harassing me for payment via text messages reminding me of the payment due and the late charges to be added if not paid by the due date.
A cancellation request was made with XXXX on XX/XX/XXXX and instructions required were followed to have the account cancel and for XXXX to arrange equipment pick-up. I was told there is a waiting period of 3 to 5 days for the cancellation team to respond and act on my request. I was also informed that any refund due will be returned to me and that XXXX would cancel out the transaction with Fortiva. I believe XXXX XXXX Fortiva have violated my rights as a consumer in their manner of business and am requesting full protection under law with this matter. Thank you.

I have made several attempts to pay off my account with them and close my account and they keep telling me " unable to process payment ''. They don't give me a reason even though I have the money in my checking account since XX/XX/scrub>XX/XX/2024. I have made my payments with their agent by phone and received a confirmation number, but my bank says there has been no attempt to withdraw payment from my account. They have added extra numbers to my checking account and then tell me my account is past due and try to charge me late fees, according to their online site. I don't get any real answers and they just don't care. They are a TERRIBLE credit card company and I believe they are trying to scam me.

For over 2 years I have provided proof via, bank statements, police reports and FTC reports stating that this Fortiva Account is not mine.
They have never provided a copy of the loan but a website link that leads to an loan application. They have responded twice stating they have videos of me in my home! I'm not even sure how to respond to a letter stating they recording me in my own. Is this a personal threat to my safety?
I'm a XXXX XXXX XXXX and showed the police the letters scary letters I've received by them.
Fortiva stated on my credit report that CFPB approved their proof of my video tapes. I demand to see the letter from CFPB approving being illegal recorded in my home with no knowledge of this as a debt allowed my credit.
They have broken several laws and at this point I want their legal departments information to obtain an attorney to have this charge off removed from my credit reports and file harassment claims due to the countless phone calls I received that were starting at XXXX XXXX.
I've provided proof that this is not my debt to two years have continued to have Fortiva behave as if they are above the law.

I opened an account at XXXX XXXX through Fortiva credit on XX/XX/year> at which time I made a purchase totaling {$65.00}. A XXXX went by and I had not received my credit card. I called Fortiva and I was told that the card was on the way at the time that I needed to make the first payment on my charges from XX/XX/XXXX. I downloaded the app to my phone and realized that the card had been stolen and there were charges that appeared on my account that were not made by me. I called Fortiva to file a fraud complaint and was informed it would take XXXX days. I have made recent calls. I was informed that I should pay the current minimum due in order to avoid finance charges late fees, which would affect my credit. I informed Fortiva that I had not made those charges and that I was not going to be held responsible for charges that were not made by me while they completed their investigation. I was then told that the company would continue to report accordingly until the investigation was complete. I had asked for the company to release the fraudulent charges in order for me to be able to use my account after I had received a new card. The company would not guarantee me that they will not negatively report during their investigation. On the contrary I was requested to make the minimum payments for charges that I did not make while they completed the investigation so my credit will not be affected. I feel I should not be held responsible, and my credit should not be affected during the investigation of fraudulent activity from a stolen card.

Contacted FORTIVA regarding the amount due after making payment. They raised my payment amount from {$44.00} to over {$80.00} a month due to a payment made 2 days after the due date. I contacted their customer service to which I was asked why is your payment late? I live in Florida, not one time did I ask for assistance due to Hurricanes Helene or Milton. My payment was only 2 days late. I was told I had to pay almost {$130.00} to bring my account current. I called and was told your payment will go down based on your balance due How can my payment of {$40.00} a month for over a year go to almost {$90.00} in less than a month on a balance less than {$400.00}. This is wrong. I was told it will go down after each payment. I believe they are in direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act. Im looking to hire an attorney. I am needing your advice.

I opened a fortiva credit card ( parent company XXXX ) via XXXX XXXXXXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX XXXX. By XX/XX/XXXX, the account was paid in full, and no further activity was registered on the account.
Late XX/XX/XXXX, I received an email from fortiva stating my balance was past due. At first I thought this was fraud, so I called their customer support hotline. The service representative informed me that fortiva updated their agreement with XXXX XXXX and would begin charging a {$30.00} annual fee on all open accounts. I requested that my account be closed, and asked if I would need to pay this annual fee. The representative said no, and closed the account. I received confirmation that the account was closed the same day.
2 weeks later, I continued to receive emails from fortiva, this time stating that my balance was now {$110.00}. This is extremely upsetting and is negatively affecting my credit. It seems that fortiva is attempting to levy fees in a predatory and sneaky way.

I opened a line of credit with Fortiva via a XXXX in order to purchase a home alarm system in XX/XX/XXXX. In XX/XX/XXXX, Fortiva closed my account without permission then transferred my debt to a new account without my permission. I did not want a new account. The new account impacted my credit score. I called and emailed Fortiva many times and they said they have the right to close my account and open a new account without my expressed consent to which I disagreed. Fortiva calls me many times a week and have threatened to take me to debt collections.
My only request to Fortiva is that Fortiva opens my old account and closes the new, fraudulent account Fortiva created without my consent and submit a correction to the credit bureaus. Fortiva stated they will not revert back to my old account nor rectify the credit score with credit bureaus.
Fortiva continues to harass me for missing payment on the credit card that I did not authorize. They have impacted my credit score further with the no payments.
I do not know what to do at this point and feel helpless. Please assist. Thank you.

I receirved a Fortiva mastercard that I did not apply for. I had a retail acccount with Fortiva with credit limit of XXXX with balance owed down to XXXX which I have had since XXXX. Than I was sent a Fortiva mastercard with a XXXX dollar limit with APR of 29.9 %. I called the company and I was informed that they sent me an emial on XX/XX/XXXX stating I was being upgraded and if I want to opt out I had 45 days to respond. However, I have kept every email I have from Fortiva and I explaned to them over and over that I did not get that email. I than contacted the corporate office and spoke with XXXX at XXXX XXXX Tues XX/XX/XXXX and informed me that he needs to speak with his legal department. I spoke with XXXX again on XX/XX/XXXX and he informed me that there was nothing they do and refused to switch me back to my retail account. I again told them that I never authorized my retail account to be closed and never authorized a new mastercard account to be opened in my name. I never recieved such email and I asked to send me the orginal email that was sent or an orginal letter that was mailed informing me. Fortiva has been unwillingly to provide this information. I feel like this decepive to me as the consumer.

Fortiva 's response to XXXX was unsatisfactory. Fortiva 's action lowered my credit score. Fortiva opened a credit card account without my permission. Instead of closing the account, they should have removed the account. Closing the account that I did not authorize reduced my credit score. This is NOT acceptable. The account should be removed as an error. Not shown as an open account that was closed. Again this does not resolve my issue.

My account was flagged for bankruptcy mistakenly by my creditor and my account was frozen. I am a XXXX XXXX and rely heavily on XXXX advertising. XXXX pulled my adds once the bank in question placed my account, unlawfully, in bankruptcy. This resulted in a loss of revenue and sales for the duration of 7days until the dispute was settled and they returned my account to good status. As well, I suffered mental anguish and distress, taking off work from my regular job to correct this. Clearly, by their own admittance, they were at fault and I seek financial retribution.
