Complaint What Happened The collector sent me a letter dated XX/XX/XXXX with an amount of {$3900.00}. The letter indicated I had a right to dispute the debt by XX/XX/XXXX. The letter also saids I can dispute this debt directly through their website XXXX. I disputed the amount on XX/XX/XXXX via their website and wrote on the letter as a reminder. Nearly a month had gone by and I had not heard back nor received a letter with an itemized breakdown of the charges. So, I went back to their website and filled out there contact form and submitted a request to follow up on XX/XX/XXXX. I screen recorded showing the date and time and the request I submitted just in case. Fast forward to XX/XX/XXXX, my mother and I received a notification that the debt was reported to the credit bureau and showing on our reports. My mother called and spoke to a XXXX XXXX, who offered to get the account paid in full for {$1900.00}. My mom asked me to call in to handle the account as I was the primary. I called and spoke to XXXX XXXX and I immediately requested to understand why the collector did not honor my dispute request to show me a breakdown of the charges and proceeded to report it to the bureaus. XXXX XXXX claimed that I never submitted anything through their website. Which was false and I was attempting to file the screenshots and recordings I took, he transferred me to his supervisor. I then spoke to XXXX XXXX who I went back and forth with as she did not believe me and was continuing to claim that I never submitted anything through their site. Despite all the proof I have and was working on sending to her. She sent me an email with charges, but there was an amount listed for {$2400.00} and labeled as " Other ''. I asked her to explain those charges and she could not. I also explained to her the charges I had made several attempts to dispute with the leasing company before the charges went to debt collection. She did not believe me. I told her I would respond to her email with all the proof I have and which I did as of XX/XX/XXXX at XXXX XXXX. The email she sent me was not a direct one and a standard inbox. It appears they are running deceptive practices with their website, telling people to dispute through their website so that when individuals do, they can claim nothing was ever submitted and proceed with collections. I never received any confirmation email for the 2 times I made submissions on their website. I was fortunate enough to record my screen at the time so that the date and time showed as I feared something like this would happen. This debt should have never been sent to the bureau until it was validated and I should have been given a timeframe to pay down any actual owed debts before sending it over.
